Metaswitch Brings Speech-to-Text to Unified Messaging Portfolio by Robbie Pleasant
Metaswitch Networks recently announced the integration of speech-to-text transcription to its unified messaging product portfolio. While users can already visually manage their calls and voicemail thanks to Metaswitch's CommPortal platform, they can now convert voicemail messages into SMS texts or e-mail, and have the transcription sent directly to the subscriber's screen of choice.
Metaswitch's platform stores wireline, wireless, and fax messages in a single point, and adds support for text transcription in both the message store and user application interfaces. This allows the users to save and search the content without having to transcribe it themselves. It even supports multiple languages, within an easily extended framework.
“Speech-to-text transcription provides a valuable convenience users didn’t have before, as it allows for quick scanning and searching of content to find relevant information, allowing the user to quickly choose what to reply or pay attention to, while leaving other messages for a more convenient time. This is one of the core reasons service providers are adding this function onto their platforms," said Nancy Jamison, UCStrategies Expert, and President and Principal Analyst at Jamison Consulting.
The solution uses Nuance's voicemail-to-text service to deliver fast and accurate transcriptions, and as it is integrated directly into the Metaswitch platform, its services can be deployed quickly and cost-effectively.
