U.S. Comstor Welcomes Former Cisco Channel Exec by UCStrategies Staff
Former Cisco channel ranks veteran and vice president, Geoff Fancher, is now senior vice president of U.S. sales for Comstor, the Cisco business unit of distributor Westcon Group. He holds P&L responsibility across Comstor's U.S. business, and will now be based at the company's headquarters in Louisville, Colorado.
The CEO of Westcon Group, Dean Douglas, stated: “As Geoff boasts more than 17 years of experience at Cisco […] with a proven ability to develop, align and execute key channel strategies [...] he's a perfect fit to bring us into our next stage of growth.”
Cisco partners are familiar with Fancher, and he is commended for his field-level engagement. In 1995, Fancher started as an account manager and rose through the ranks to, among other distinctions, running Cisco's Channel Advisory Board (CCAB), and was a fixture partner at events.
Wendy Bahr, the Cisco senior vice president, Americas Partner Organization, told CRN: “He's leaving the Cisco family but not going too far. Obviously Comstor is a very important relationship for Cisco.”
Comstor Worldwide is a global business and was created through the conjoining of local Comstor sections in 2009. The company embodies half of Westcon's revenue, which stands at around $4 billion, and accounts for a total exceeding $700 million in U.S. revenue.
In a statement, Fancher said: “I’ve always considered Comstor one of Cisco’s strongest partner relationships. Our team was consistently impressed with their deep knowledge of Cisco technology, along with a seamless ability to execute core channel strategies. I firmly believe the company has what it takes to become Cisco's top distributor in the United States and am honored to help make this happen.”
Additionally, it was announced by Westcon that the recent vice president, North America at Comstor, Andy Banks, is taking on a new role as vice president of Westcon, North America data center practice.
Banks now works under senior vice president, global data center and cloud solutions, Dan Papes; his new responsibilities will see him placing attention on Westcon's data center and business focused on cloud computing businesses with the North America channel. (CY) Link
