Partners who presently utilize Symantec mobility products are now being offered a new specialization which focuses on helping channel partners progress with the aide of mobility provisions. Partners will simultaneously be checked-on by the company to make sure that they are completely up-to-date both in terms of sales and technical components required for a fluid go-to-market strategy and utile integration.

The group product manager at Symantec, Vizay Kotikalapudi, said: “Mobility is a major topic in the industry right now because of its ability to increase productivity and efficiency. We want to provide in-depth training so that the partners can better serve customers and build more profitable businesses. We also want to help them grow into additional areas such as mobile device management and application management, where they can add additional value.”

Further access to product lines has been offered to partners who sell Symantec's products for mobile security, mobile device management and mobile application management via the company's endpoint management specialization. However, those partners which are participating in this offering must finish their online sales training in 90 days; this type of technical training will likely start in February or March 2013, and completion of training will be expected of partners in order to sustain their access to mobile product portfolios and discounts which are related to this.

Brad Wilson, the product marketing manager at Symantec said: “The online sales training involves an on-demand, hour-long class available free of charge, focusing on product positioning and effective strategies for sales. Next, there's going to be a three- to four-day classroom-based technical workshop, culminating in an examination. The technical training is to help establish the integration and support pieces, along with the services aspects that can help raise the partner to a higher level.”

Specialization will be made available at once, and the company, additionally, has a further 12 specializations over the entirety of its product line.

Wade Wyant, the president of ITS Partners, a company which has developed a channel practice focused around Symantec in Grand Rapids, Michigan, said: “If you're a partner who is focused on security or endpoint management, these specializations are a strong benefit because they give you credibility with both Symantec and your customer. We focus on device management and security, so this helps us to differentiate against large, generalized VARs, as well as smaller VARs who have relationships with the customers but lack the same level of expertise.” (CY) Link
