snom Releases New SIP Phones for SMBs by Robbie Pleasant
snom technology AG has announced a new line of business VoIP phones, designed for small and mid-sized businesses with the functionality of enterprise-class desktop phones. These new phones, the snom 720 and snom 760 business phones, combine the standard business functionality of the snom 3xx series with the advanced functionality of the snom 8xx series, creating an advanced desktop phone at a price affordable by SMBs.
The snom 720 and 760 both come with automatic provisioning, wireless LAN connectivity, snom's wideband high definition voice quality, and a Gigabit Ethernet switch, which allows phones to transfer data at up to 1000 megabits per second without slowing down one's network or PC, as well as Bluetooth connectivity via an optional USB stick.
Individually, snom 760 has an easy to read, high-resolution color display, a 16-key programmable busy lamp field, four context-sensitive keys, two USB ports and an improved handset grip for silent pickup and return. It has the standard desktop feature set of any snom phone, and provides a good level of visual function, such as the use and delivery of XML-based data or caller images.
The snom 720 features a four-line monochrome graphical display, 18 configurable function keys, and four variable keys. It supports all standard VoIP calling features, including speed dialing, ringtone selection, LED call indication, and an address book with up to 1,000 entries.
According to Blair Pleasant, co-founder of UCStrategies, “The 700 series brings the strengths of the 300 and 800 series onto a single phone, and provides a lot of value for the dollar. It has Bluetooth, wireless LAN, and other capabilities to meet customers; needs, and is interoperable with wide range of voice-driven applications, including IP-PBXs, cloud and hosted VoIP and UC solutions.” She adds, “While the prevalence of mobile devices and the trend toward BYOD is reducing the reliance some workers have on the office desk phone, most power users use both a mobile and desk phone, and the actual handset still plays a major role in business for the time being.”
The snom 720 is available for $219, while the snom 760 is available for $329. For more information, visit www.snomchannel.com.
