NEC Releases UNIVERGE 3C
NEC Releases UNIVERGE 3C by Robbie Pleasant
NEC Corporation has unveiled the latest version of its Unified Communications and Collaboration software, UNIVERGE 3C. This virtualized software is built to provide a streamlined internet-style experience for business users, improving collaboration and workplace flexibility.
UNIVERGE 3C provides business users on nearly any device with essential Unified Communications and Collaboration tools, while the services adapt to a range of business roles. It integrates a Rich Internet Application framework so that businesses can use their existing web and security infrastructure, and can be used on personal devices with enterprise security credentials to keep information secure.
It also aligns with enterprise IT strategies to virtualize business collaboration services. UNIVERGE 3C allows for customized collaboration for a variety of business roles, enabling features through software-based licensing to let businesses expand services as they need.
"NEC is jumping on the web-based, 'virtualization' and mobility bandwagon that can support UC-enabled applications on a cloud-based or data center basis," says Art M. Rosenberg, UC Expert for UCStrategies. "Designed to accommodate the fast moving UC market, NEC is focused on integrating real-time communications with any user endpoint device through both its software clients for BYOD environments, as well as its web portal applications. Finally, it is enabling graceful enterprise migrations to UC applications on a hosted, flexible subscription basis, including necessary customization services.NEC is targeting its services-oriented UNIVERGE 3C offering towards integrating with vertical business applications (CEBP?) that will be device and system independent."
Rosenberg adds, "What NEC is doing is not unique in the industry and reflects where traditional telephony vendors are moving towards for mobile and desktop, software based UC-enablement. Giving examples of business usage "roles," the emphasis is on real-time contacts and conferencing, including webinars. However, there was no mention (yet) of capabilities for interdomain presence federation to facilitate outbound, real-time contacts with external personnel (business partners, customers), so expect to see more soon!"
NEC will showcase UNIVERGE 3C at Enterprise Connect 2012 in Orlando, Florida from March 26-29. They will be in booth 609.
