Mitel Brings Strategic Initiatives to North American Channel Program by Robbie Pleasant

Mitel has recently announced a series of new initiatives for its North American channel program. Included in the strategic initiatives is the creation of the Authorized Partner Service Program (APSP), which shifts local service support for certain parts of Mitel's product portfolio to its partner channels, as well as the appointing of several new channel management executives.

The new program and hires reflect Mitel's continuing efforts to evolve into an organization extremely focused on channel sales. With the Authorized Partner Service Program, Mitel channel partners can be subcontracted to deliver local service and support for Mitel's product portfolio, increasing their revenue base by providing end customers with better support.

Along with the new program, Mitel has brought in channel professionals from a variety of companies with experience managing sales in the business communications market. This continues the progress in Mitel's stated 3+1 strategy by aligning with its channels, along with finding more opportunities for shifting business towards its channel partners.

"Mitel is moving ahead with its plans, announced at their analyst meeting earlier this summer, to both strengthen its channel and eliminate channel conflict," says David H. Yedwab, UC Expert at UCStrategies. "The new team of channel leaders along with the new program that is turning support of previous direct systems to channels for support is proof of the plans Mitel announced in June.  Now we await to see the execution benefits flow as the team and the programs ramp up execution in 2012 … Wow! Where did the first 11 years of the 21st Century go?"
