Mitel and Tech Data Join Forces to Tackle the U.S. SMB Market by UCStrategies Staff
Mitel, a company that offers cloud and premises-based unified communications (UC) systems and collaboration solutions, signed a distribution agreement with Tech Data Corporation to pursue the potentially lucrative small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) in the United States. Under the terms of the agreement, Tech Data Corporation will distribute the Mitel 5000 Communications Platform and the Mitel UC360 Collaboration Point.
The Mitel 5000 Communications Platform is an applications platform equipped with a suite of applications and a support base that can handle up to 250 users. The Mitel UC360 Collaboration Point, on the other hand, is focused on multimedia communications.
Considered a tough market to penetrate, the United States SMB market may prove rewarding for Mitel after its alignment with Tech Data Corporation, a wholesale distributor of technology products.
Considering that Mitel had taken hits in the market and lost around four percent of its UC market share, this distribution agreement with Tech Data may help recoup the missing market share and recover some of the losses that Mitel sustained in the past. Tech Data Corporation is said to have considerable market reach and presence that will aid Mitel’s efforts to broaden the potential market reach of the two companies as well as the reach of their various channel partners. In addition, with the involvement of Tech Data, Mitel is said to have clinched the opportunity to offer selected services to a number of U.S.-based SMB-specific Mitel channel partners.
“As Mitel continues to position the company for sustained long term growth, the U.S. SMB market, where Mitel already enjoys great market traction, presents an outstanding opportunity to further expand the reach and revenue of Mitel and our channel partners,” said Philip Keenan, executive vice president of Mitel Sales and Service in North America.
“Mitel’s off-the-shelf SMB platforms help to enable a significant portion of the SMB market. We are excited to add Mitel to our AIS offering to help both existing and new solutions providers take advantage of the growth opportunities in this evolving market,” said Chuck Bartlett, vice president and general manager of Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) at Tech Data.
