Dell's Cloud Client Manager Enables BYOD Capability by UCStrategies Staff

It was announced last week that Dell's Wyse Cloud Client Manager is able to adopt BYOD in the workplace as the result of a solution design. As IT departments assist in making this service more available, it will now be possible to offer a better experience and services to employees while receiving in-depth reports and analytics on organization compliance.

In a press release last week, the Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Client Computing at Dell stated: “With BYOD, IT departments have to grapple with the complexity of managing and securing the diversity of operating systems and devices. Dell Wyse Cloud Client Manager reduces the burden of IT management by providing a comprehensive overview of all devices, applications and content on the network at any given time, as well as by providing a granular approach to accessing corporate resources.”

A self-service portal is available featuring a single cloud-based platform; this solution comes as part of the Dell Wyse Cloud Client Manager. Employees can register and update their devices through this portal, and this process is also available through smartphones. Additionally, device data can be wiped in the event of theft. Employees will also have the ability to change passwords and observe full compliance policy lists.

Mobile device management can also be accessed by IT departments, and mobile application management for iOS and Android smartphones will also be ready to hand. There will also be a feature through which reporting can be done, and this will allow IT departments to observe more clearly which resources are being used for corporate data by employees. IT departments will also be able to devote much of their attention on critical tickets, particularly as system alerts are exception-based.

Although this solution is currently unavailable in the U.S. and Canada, by 2013 Dell hopes that this service will be available worldwide. There is also a free 30-day trial available for the solution, available on the company's website. (CY) Link
