BroadSoft and Acme Packet Release IMS Xpress
BroadSoft and Acme Packet Release IMS Xpress by Robbie Pleasant
Acme Packet and BroadSoft, Inc. have announced the completion and release of IMS Xpress, a simple solution for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) deployments.
IMS Xpress combines BroadSoft's BroadWorks communications application solution with Acme Packet's Net-Net SIP Multimedia-Xpress solution, creating a pre-integrated and interoperable solution. With it, users can reduce IMS architecture complexity to simplify and accelerate deployments, support mass-market subscriber quantities, and access a wide range of communications devices while saving money with a lower total cost of ownership.
IMS Xpress is IMS-standards compliant and includes joint business processes for product design, implementation, and support. It's a fully-tested solution, which promises to make for quick and cost effective deployment of new services.
According to Blair Pleasant of UCStrategies, “In order to deploy voice and communication services for LTE, service providers will need to deploy IMS as the service delivery platform. IMS has been very complex to implement, and service providers need an easier and more cost-effect way to deploy IMS in order to provide voice services for LTE. A pre-integrated IMS solution from BroadSoft and Acme Packet make it easier for service providers to move toward next-gen networks. The two companies believe that this new offering will appeal to mobile operators that are moving to LTE and 4G, customers that have deployed 3G and are now moving to IMS, as well as larger Tier 1 service providers that have deployed IMS but are looking to move to LTE.”
She adds, “Service providers won’t have to worry about installing and configuring 15 different elements for an IMS network – they can install IMS Xpress, and BroadSoft and Acme Packet will make sure that the elements work with provisioning, billing, and other systems. The two companies have also aligned their services and support so that service provider customers have a single place to go when there’s a problem, eliminating potential finger pointing issues.”
