IntelePeer Enhances Leadership in SIP Trunking with Advanced Features and Offerings for Businesses
IntelePeer Enhances Leadership in SIP Trunking with Advanced Features and Offerings for Businesses by Paul Robinson
Sonus IntelePeer has just introduced its CoreCloud UC SIP Trunking 3.0 service for UC systems and contact centers that combines the HD voice quality with Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Realtime Transport Protocol (SRTP) using high strength four kilobyte public key encryption to protect signaling and multimedia content and ensure the privacy and integrity of communications media.
IntelePeer SIP Trunking has been certified and deployed with leading UC and SBC technologies, from vendors including Altigen, Avaya, Acme Packet, AudioCodes, Cisco, Interactive Intelligence, Microsoft, Sonus, and Siemens. In addition, SRTP and TLS support is qualified for use with Microsoft Lync, and other UC platform certifications are in process.
In an accompanying press release the company noted that the new SIP service will be made available in two SIP Trunking bundles – CoreCloud UC Basic and CoreCloud UC Local. CoreCloud UC bundles offer all-in-one inclusive packages that are available in a month-to-month package, or provided on a discounted, longer-term basis. Customers simply count up the number of users or ports they want on their communications system and purchase the same number of CoreCloud UC bundles.
CoreCloud UC bundles include:
-
Dedicated phone numbers – either a new number or port-in of an existing number
-
Local, mobile, toll-free and long distance calling
-
Caller ID, E911 and Fax
-
TLS/SRTP encryption
-
Active QoS monitoring and capacity management with realtime email alerts
-
Access to our CloudCentral portal for easy service management and reporting
-
Toll-free numbers, international calling and additional phone numbers can be added
-
No installation fees, pay-as-you-go terms
-
Included 24x7x365 support
What This Means to You
To Customers: There are significant differences in the way SIP Trunking services are deployed, how they are priced, and the features and functions they can deliver. Enterprise users should be discriminating purchasers of SIP Trunking services. Job #1 is to begin the process by having a clear picture of how they see their networks evolving. Then they can begin choosing the most effective partners for their SIP Trunking initiatives. And don’t forget to ask for a proof-of-concept trial.
IntelePeer offers enterprises CoreCloud SIP Trunking services that leverage their carrier-grade platform and Media Peering Grid services which aggregate 60+ service provider peering partners. Additionally, toll free, DID, number porting, directory and E911 services can be easily provisioned on-demand from the cloud via their CloudCentral portal. The IntelePeer AppWorx application development environment provides the tools to develop communications-enabled applications that enhance collaboration and productivity.
Two important aspects of the IntelePeer solution that set it apart from its competitors are the presence of: (1) integrated TLS and SRTP encryption to protect signaling and multimedia content and ensure the privacy and integrity of communications media; and (2) support for E911 service at all locations as well as offer solutions for mobile or nomadic UC users.
Benefits of TLS/SRTP Encryption
This enhanced security reduces the need for enterprises to pay for dedicated data access, such as a T1 circuit or MPLS network for their SIP Trunking connections, enabling them to securely route communications over their existing corporate data connections.
Prices for higher and higher capacity backbone routers have plummeted, and the move to wave division multiplexing (WDM) on fiber optic transmission systems has allowed the IP network operators to cost effectively increase the capacity of their networks. The result is that packet loss and delay performance continues to improve to the point that many question whether an MPLS based service is worth the extra cost.
Another factor that has contributed to the move to basic Internet services is improved voice coding and packet loss masking options. Today, VoIP receivers incorporate buffers and techniques to mask the impact of lost packets. Additionally, the low (and decreasing) cost of bandwidth, coupled with predictable and infrequent Internet transit delays create a viable architecture and strong economic case for routing real-time media applications that still deliver high QoS over the public Internet. This avoids the need to deploy expensive, parallel connectivity over the pre-existing low cost broadband connection.
E911 Service Support
IntelePeer’s E911 services can be easily provisioned on-demand from the cloud via their CloudCentral portal. Their E911call handling flow is shown below.

To Partners: IntelePeer’s partner program focuses on three types of partners:
-
Consultants/agents recommending IntelePeer solutions to clients
-
Solution Providers, VARs and Integrators who primarily integrate IntelePeer services into their UC, collaboration, and contact center practices and solutions offered to customers
-
Service Providers/Carriers who expand coverage and enhance service portfolios with white label SIP Trunking from IntelePeer
The new CoreCloud UC SIP Trunking 3.0 service and offer bundles give partners additional leverage in selling SIP Trunking in a competitive market.
