"Wave and Pay" use for Smartphones may start getting some traction. Recently, in an ITBusiness article, IMS Research was suggesting that over 80 million Smartphones will be shipped in 2012 with Near Field Communication capability. This includes phones from Nokia, Blackberry and Samsung that already ship with NFC with a rumoured possibility that Apple will soon release a NFC device.

The Olympic Games in London are to feature a number of companies working together to accept NFC payments and Starbucks in the UK is set to roll out NFC this spring. In the US, Google introduced Google Wallet working with NJ Transit as a method of payment processing for transit users.

All of this transactional business requirement will need a unique combination of secure network capability back ended by Contact Centers that can provide track and trace functionality. Definitely UC…

Glad to see you highlighting mobile self-service transactions as part of the Contact Center responsibility. To emphasize the multi-modal nature of mobile transactional self-service inputs and outputs, as well as the need to access flexible and contextual live assistance ("click-to-contact") when necessary, I have been labeling the next generation of contact center as the "UC Contact Center." It can service ALL end users, whether inside or outside of the organization and from any desktop or mobile endpoint device.
