Voxeo Acquires ClackPoint to Build on Unified Communication and Unified Self Service Strategy

Voxeo continues to build out the company’s unified communications strategy and portfolio with the acquisition of ClackPoint, a real-time multi-media collaboration platform, that is both simple and easy to deploy, and inexpensive compared to traditional standalone conferencing/collaboration offerings. ClackPoint’s platform is currently being used by over 100,000 people each month to connect and collaborate in social networks, casual connections and business.

ClackPoint provides virtual conference rooms for users, accessible through any telephone, SIP VoIP device and service, Skype phone and IM clients, or ClackPoint's own flash-based phone and IM web client. ClackPoint's also offers an API so that developers and enterprises can easily add collaboration capabilities to new and existing applications, in addition to providing pre-built "widgets" that work with existing applications and platforms, such as Google Wave.  

ClackPoint’s service allows users to initiate a free, online collaborative meeting, across any channel from any phone, or on the web or through IM, so users have a choice in how they access the meeting.

This is Voxeo’s eighth acquisition in the last two years, and is another piece in Voxeo’s Unified Self-Service and Unified Communications strategy, announced last year. As part of the acquisition, Voxeo also gained ClackPoint's "Karaka" Skype-to-XMPP gateway that connects Skype and XMPP/Jabber clouds. This allows companies to bridge presence and instant messaging between Skype and XMPP (ex. Jabber, Google Talk), including full support for group multi-chats.
