Vocalocity, ShoreTel-M5 Top UCaaS Revenue Growth for 2Q13 by UCStrategies Staff
Synergy Research Group unveils a new report showing the top Q2 2013 revenue gainers—Vocalocity and ShoreTel—in the cloud Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market, which grew 22 percent year-over-year.
In this year’s second quarter, Vocalocity generated a year-over-year annual revenue increase of 45 percent, while ShoreTel’s revenue growth was at 37 percent. iCore Networks, RingCentral, and 8x8 posted year-over-year annual revenue growth between the range of 18 and 22 percent.

According to the Synergy report, the six market leaders—Vocalocity, ShoreTel, iCore Networks, RingCentral, 8x8, and West IP—comprised 54 percent of the total Q2 2013 UCaaS revenue. 8x8 was able to maintain its overall market share lead at 15 percent, according to Synergy.
Offerings for public-cloud services generated 52 percent of this year’s second-quarter revenue for the UCaaS market, while those of private-cloud services accounted for 30 percent. The rest came from premise+hybrid cloud and contact center SaaS.
North America accounted for 85 percent of worldwide revenue. Synergy explained that this was due to the underdeveloped market in other regions.
“Looking beyond North America, I expect to see stronger growth in EMEA and APAC regions, which currently account for 49% of traditional UC and enterprise voice revenues but only 13 percent of UCaaS revenues,” said Jeremy Duke, founder and chief analyst of Synergy Research Group. “Operators such as Telstra and Orange are becoming increasingly active in these regions and UCaaS is becoming more accepted as a reliable, secure and economically compelling business communications solution.” (KOM) Link.
