VMware Server Offering from Rackspace Broadens On-Premise VMware Environment by UCStrategies Staff

Rackspace’s Managed Virtualization service will have a new Dedicated VMware vCenter Server attached to it, according to an announcement from the company. Enterprise customers will be able to move existing VMware workloads to their on-premise data center with the Dedicated VMware vCenter Servers. They will also be able to leverage tools which exist in order to keep the control and agility they require. Customers will be able to quicken their adoption of cloud computing with the new service, and this will in turn improve reliability of Rackspace, which is supported throughout by Fanatical Support.

The CTO at Rackspace, John Engates, said: “This new service has been designed to enable customers to migrate workloads out of their data center and into a Rackspace data center. This allows Rackspace to do what we do best, which is providing a fully managed hybrid cloud hosting service backed by Fanatical Support with maximum uptime. Utilizing Rackspace’s hybrid cloud portfolio gives customers the choice to find the best fit for their applications and workloads, all while offloading data center management so that they can focus on their core business.”

A full portfolio and hybrid hosting services such as bare-metal Dedicated Servers, servers virtualized by VMware, and both Public and Private Cloud services powered by OpenStack, are also provided by Rackspace. Application portfolios can be strengthened by customers with a best-fit infrastructure approach to each application.

The Research VP at IDC, Melanie Posey, stated: “Rackspace has taken another step toward addressing a diverse array of customer needs by expanding its service portfolio with Dedicated VMware vCenter Server. This new offering adds depth to the current managed virtualization lineup, enabling customers to augment their on-site VMware deployments with Rackspace-managed private VMware environments in Rackspace data centers. Rackspace runs one of the largest VMware environments, in addition to operating the largest OpenStack-based cloud, giving the infrastructure support expertise to help its customers on their journey to the hybrid cloud.” (CY) Link.
