Sprint Expands its Wholesale Cloud Services with Mitel’s Hosted PBX

Sprint Expands its Wholesale Cloud Services with Mitel’s Hosted PBX by UCStrategies Staff

Sprint’s Emerging Solutions & Global Wholesale unit has expanded its cloud portfolio by offering Mitel’s hosted PBX, which enables resellers to add unified communications to their cloud packages aimed at small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) in the United States. Also, Mitel is now able to market Sprint’s wholesale cloud services to its SMBs in the country.

With the inclusion of Mitel’s hosted PBX in Sprint’s wholesale cloud services portfolio, Sprint’s wholesale customers will be able to sell a range services, including archiving, email, hosted voice, unified communications, web collaboration, and web commerce on a secure cloud infrastructure, minus the cost and intricacies of forming an IT environment.

“Organizations worldwide are turning to cloud services that support their business requirements in a timely and cost-efficient manner,” said Matt Carter, president of Sprint Emerging Solutions & Global Wholesale. “This agreement with Mitel augments our Wholesale Cloud Services offer with the industry’s leading unified communications solution. This ensures we continue to enable our resellers with easy-to-use, affordable and high-performance cloud solutions that they can quickly take to market without the expense and hassle of having to create their own services.”

“This is a win-win for Sprint and Mitel,” said Jon Brinton, president of Mitel NetSolutions. “The cloud market is predicted to explode in 2013, and our partnership with Sprint means that we are fully equipped to benefit from this growth.”

A recent study made by the IT research firm IDC showed that hosted private cloud (HPC) services would be worth over $24 billion annually worldwide by 2016. Thus, cloud services investment is imperative for vendors if they want to ensure their survival. Market leadership for even the largest technology firms is not possible without heavily investing in the cloud.

The market resulting from the rapid adoption of cloud services, which is said to help organizations reduce costs and enhance their business processes, is expected to reach $52 billion in 2013. Public infrastructure as a service (IaaS), in particular, is used by many IT buyers as a money-saving alternative for their aging infrastructure. And the new partnership between Mitel and Sprint’s wholesale unit will enable the two companies to profit from the robust market for cloud services. (KOM) Link. Link. Link.

it is funny how now in 2013 all of a sudden large telecom companies are trying to switch to VoIP. I think I will stick with BroadConnect for the moment. they have 7 years exp all of the big guys getting in the game now have none.

I know what you mean. It is getting crowded. But to be fair, Mitel was probably the first of the major premises-based vendors to get into hosted. Though I don't recall the year.
