snom UC Business Phones Auto-configured to Feature Microsoft Lync

A number of updates have been made by snom technology AG to its snom UC edition 7xx and 821 business phones. The updates are set to assist in simplifying enterprise deployments for organizations, and include an auto-configuration feature for Microsoft Lync.

Further updates which were announced last week are 802.1x Authentication for wired endpoints; call-conferencing capabilities which allow users to join a Lync web conference via snom 7xx or 821 phone; and support for advanced Lync features such as Click to Call, call transfer to mobile devices, adding several lines to a single call, Music on Hold and Call Park.

The Managing Director at snom technology AG, Dr. Michael Knieling, said: “snom continues to find new ways to simplify Lync with Voice deployments by improving connectivity and compatibility of standards-based snom UC edition phones. We’re the first standards-based Lync-qualified phones to offer plug-and-play integration with Lync, taking our phones a step beyond other market options. Our easy configuration process and new features will continue to address critical Lync Voice requirements in enterprise businesses."

According to snom, the 7xx series and 821 phones will also come with automatic update capabilities and base firmware which will natively connect to the existing Lync server. Apollo firmware will be included in all the snom devices referred to above, and this will have ended Microsoft’s Compatible Devices Program’s testing for certification with Lync.
