ShoreTel announces its Small Business Edition 100 (SBE 100), a new unified communications (UC) solution that targets the needs of the small business segment. ShoreTel touts that SBE 100 offers small businesses the advantages and functionalities normally available only to large enterprises.
Unified communications platforms provider ShoreTel describes SBE 100 as an integrated, scalable software-hardware package. It can meet the UC needs of organizations consisting of up to 100 users based in five or fewer locations.
Standard functions, including moving users and adding more phones or changing them, can be accomplished by employees who have basic IT knowhow and skills. This makes ShoreTel Small Business Edition 100 suitable for small business organizations that typically do not have a dedicated IT department.
ShoreTel also touts its new UC solution’s scalability – the SBE 100 initially supporting a small system can undergo a software upgrade that enables it to support a large system consisting of thousands of users. ShoreTel claims that no hardware change is necessary.
The SBE 100 offers a range of capabilities that enhance workplace productivity, including desktop call control and Unified Messaging that sends emails, fax, and voice to a single application, such as a Microsoft Outlook inbox. Features such as the call handling modes, Follow Me Find Me (a feature that, according to ShoreTel, enables a user to pick up calls anytime and anywhere), and message notification can benefit mobile and remote employees. Contact Center functionality and comprehensive collaboration solutions can also be added as business needs arise.
