Polycom announces that its RealPresence CloudAXIS Suite, a software extension of the RealPresence platform, has been expanded for use not only in Windows-based computers but also for Android and iOS mobile devices. Polycom also unveils Video SmartStart, which makes CloudAXIS tools available to customers. The tools include adoption and implementation services, as well as the RealPresence platform.
Video SmartStart 100 handles up to 100 users, while another Video SmartStart option is designed for use by up to 500 users. Polycom’s SmartStart is available in select countries and marketed either as a single-line item (capital expenditure) or as a three-year lease (operating expense).
Polycom touts the new software extension’s features to include enterprise-grade security and investment protection, among other things. Polycom CloudAXIS Suite also comes with a global presence-aware directory, which lets users add contacts from social apps like Facebook, Google Talk, and Skype and enter business email addresses into any video collaboration. From the directory, hosts can then click in order to connect, send a link to the video conference by way of a calendar invite, and perform instant-messaging through business or social apps. To join a meeting, users can simply click on the URL sent by the meeting’s host.
In addition, the RealPresence platform is equipped with HD technology and SmartPairing functionality, which enables the RealPresence app to connect a mobile device to a Polycom conference room phone.

Polycom CloudAXIS Suite is initially available only for private cloud deployments by enterprises and for computers running on Windows OS. Mac availability is forthcoming, according to Polycom. (KOM) Link. Link.
