Perficient Continues Expansion With Clear Task Acquisition by UCStrategies Staff

San Francisco-based provider of consulting services for Salesforce.com cloud applications, Clear Task, has been acquired by solution provider Perficient for $7.9 million ($6.3 million in cash and $1.6 million in the company’s common stock), and is the latest purchase in the company’s expansion plans.

Earlier this month, St. Louis-based Perficient purchased TriTrek, expanding the company’s service capabilities in content management and business process management in the IBM market; the Clear Task acquisition is the second this month.

As well as the $7.9 million for the acquisition, a further $3.7 million is subject to “certain financial achievements and working capital provisions,” according to Perficient.

Perficient partners with IBM, Microsoft, EMC, Oracle and TIBCO, and provides systems integration, application development, training and other services to vendors’ software products.

A small team at Perficient was centered on Salesforce.com in the run-up to the acquisition of Clear Task, and the former was looking for a way to broaden the reach of that business with regard to the fact that Salesforce.com is a key player in CRM, social networking and cloud computing technologies.

The CEO and president at Perficient, Jeffrey Davis, said: “For quite some time we've been working to find the right Salesforce consulting team to add to Perficient. In Clear Task, we've found a firm with an excellent reputation, and one that is well-run with impressive bill rates and margins. This transaction represents a key strategic investment we're making to expand our cloud offerings.”

According to Perficient, around $8 million is held in annual services revenue at Clear Task, and over 300 companies have services provided to them around Salesforce.com's Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Chatter and Force.com products. Also noteworthy is that Clear Task is a gold-level Saleforce.com Cloud Alliance Partner.

Along with the acquisition, cloud service capabilities for Perficient have been built around products from IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Salesforce.com.

Perficient gains almost 50 consulting, technology, sales and support professionals as a result of the acquisition, and means that the company’s West Coast presence can grow with a San Francisco office.

A larger number of customers are also being brought in, and this includes a number of Fortune 500 companies, and customers in high-tech, clean energy and gaming industries.

A mobile computing practise was also unveiled by Proficient last month, and up to 70 percent of the company’s projects have a mobile component. (CY) Link
