UC edition phones from snom technology AG will include updated firmware, the company confirmed, and this means that users will be able to use broadened Lync features.

The Chief Technology Officer at snom, Usman Tahir, said: “snom is relentlessly focused on delivering  the industry’s most extensive lineup of  Lync-qualified phones for any size business, designed to support Lync’s full set of rich innovative, productivity-enhancing, collaboration features.”

He added: “This new snom UC edition firmware raises the bar again with full support for enhanced “better together” and puts the snom-qualified devices on a par with Microsoft Lync-optimized devices while also bringing a whole set of additional features exclusive to snom devices.”

Features included: click-to-call, drag and drop calls and contacts from a desktop phone to the Lync 2013 Client; Native connection to Lync servers for the snom 7xx and 821 phones; and 802.1x endpoint authentication. (CY) Link
