Now is the Time to Transition to Cloud, Says Microsoft by UCStrategies Staff

The cloud transition strategy from Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is progressing well, but the company is urging partners to make the most of the rich market of cloud-ready customers which is valued at as much as $2 trillion.

Cloud enabling platforms like Office 365 and Azure are being adopted widely, and profits are growing rapidly, accord to the President of Server and Tools at Microsoft, Satya Nadella.

He said: “We can build on that momentum and truly capture and lead this next generation of modern business on the cloud.” In reference to the momentum of profitability, Nadella added that solutions should “speak to the here-and-now needs of customers,” and develop a more dynamic business with social enterprise.

In order to do this, customers need Windows devices which are out on full display at WPC, and operate Windows software like 365, according to Nadella.

Furthermore, “people-centric IT” will also need to be implemented as this will aid partners in providing business controls which their customers want with the freedom of BYOD their employees are calling for.

The “next giant leap” in business intelligence and insight into big data with Power BI for Office 465, according to Nadella, was previewed by Microsoft last week; this offers public and private data sets which can be accessed through Excel.

Nadella noted: “We, I think, have the most unique opportunity ahead of us to lead this next-generation enterprise-computing platform with devices and services. So let's go ahead and make that opportunity a real reality for all of us and drive market success.”

Arvato Distribution GmbH is a Bertelsmann subsidiary based in Germany and one of Microsoft's key end-to-end solutions and managed service providers. Jim Crowley of Arvato commented that Nadella’s message was “important but subtle,” and that cloud transition is inevitable.

Crowley also said that SMBs will be stuck with the old expensive business model if they do not get on board with cloud transition, and furthermore, praised Microsoft’s ability to combine products across devices and wanted to see a focus on software from Microsoft. Crowley said partners should be able to work out how to monetize the products, and that “Microsoft is building an ecosystem.” (CY) Link
