NEC Releases Unified Communications Bundle

 NEC Corporation of America has recently announced the general availability of UNIVERGE Sphericall for Medium Businesses and Small Enterprises (MB/SE). This full-featured enterprise-class UC solution is aimed at the mid-market, and is available in four configurations.

UNIVERGE Sphericall comes with user-based licensing, a choice of IP desktop phones, UM8700 for unified messaging, as well as the NEC general-purpose server. It offers high availability and redundancy, designed to meet the needs of a mid-sized business.

Among the features and capabilities offered are: full UC Capable Sphericall Platform with advanced voice features, Rich Internet Access UC client, Unified Messaging with UM8700, video conferencing and audio conference capabilities, Softphone, Presence, Instant Messaging, Call Recoding, and many, many more.

According to UCStrategies Expert Dave Michels, “The problem with software-based solutions is that they require hardware. This complicates support with a minimum of two vendors. NEC is in the fortunate position of being a major supplier of servers, which enables it to create a single-vendor UC solution, something rare in a software-based environment.
