Content sharing, HD video and hosting meetings from mobile devices are all now enabled via Mountain View, California-based Blue Jeans Network, which is broadening its cloud-based videoconferencing solutions.

The chief commercial officer at the company, Stu Aaron, has cited a growth in on-the-go, affordable and integrated video-collaboration solutions as the reason for developing Blue Jeans’ new package.

He said: “We are starting to see a mass proliferation of mobile devices within our business customers. We are seeing customers that have access to these tablets, in particular, and smartphones more generally that want to use these devices to join meetings.”

A mobile app for iOS devices will let users videoconference in HD, straight from their iPads and iPhones. Previously, users of Blue Jeans were able to tap into the services provided by the company, but now the new iOS feature allows for the sharing of bi-directional content.

Partnering with video-calling appliances maker Tele Labs enables support for conference rooms that do not necessarily have HD videoconferencing capabilities. A telyHD Enterprise Edition solution has been reached through the solution, and this enables direct access to Blue Jeans’ meetings, irrespective of what conference room a user is sitting in.

The telyHD Enterprise Edition solution means that conference rooms with a TV can be video-enabled for the price of $1,000; this pricing is more modest than acquiring an extra endpoint which is needed for this to work.

Aaron stated: “We are starting to see a huge demand for access beyond the traditional videoconferencing rooms, meaning the specialized rooms or the board rooms. People were asking to be able to access a service like ours from all the other, tertiary conference rooms in their companies that aren't video enabled and are too small to spend the big bucks for the Polycom or the Cisco endpoints.”

New dual HD streams allow the sharing of video and content, and lets users do this at the same time; they can also take part in videoconferencing without the quality of either feature faltering. A new “slider” effect has also been unveiled by the company, and this controls the layout of the video and content sharing windows, which users can adjust accordingly.

Since its advent in 2011, Blue Jeans Network has received a lot of recognition from the industry and channel, and this is a result of the company’s ability to integrate video and audio protocols, which lets users communicate with either high-end Cisco Polycom video systems or customer-focused services like Skype and Google Talk.

The company is partners with solution providers including Tampa, Florida-based AVI-SPL and Hauppauge, New York-based IVCi.

Aaron noted that the partners’ sales of its services (and sales of endpoints) will be sped up and increased through the new “Room to Remote” feature. He said: “It's enhanced functionality that will make it easier for partners to sell and to sell more. Everything we are doing is basically extending the reach of this service. We are giving the ability to sell more value, ... and all of that should make it easier for the channel to sell the Blue Jeans' service, and then sell more endpoints along with it.” (CY) Link
