Mitel Unveils MiVoice for Lync and Google-Integrated MiCollab
Mitel Unveils MiVoice for Lync and Google-Integrated MiCollab by UCStrategies Staff
Mitel has launched two new products, MiVoice for Lync and MiCollab 5.0, which was formerly called Mitel Application Suite (MAS).
“It's ironic how many collaboration and communications tools do not work well with other technologies. And yet customers continue to rank interoperability as a top priority in today's multi-vendor IT environments. No business has the time or money to rip out and replace infrastructure to make applications work together. Mitel understands this and drives to deliver tools that easily integrate with and add value to our customers' preferred IT platforms,” said Ron Wellard, executive vice president and general manager at Mitel Communications.
MiVoice for Lync
Mitel claims that MiVoice for Lync will bring the company’s enterprise-grade voice features to Microsoft Lync users. It will also address the voice integration issues in Lync deployments.
To use Lync, businesses traditionally get hold of disparate elements – such as apps, gateways, and phones – from various vendors. Thus, there is vendor sprawl and no shared management infrastructure. In addition, there is also the issue of Lync being designed for use by deskbound employees and not mobile ones, according to Mitel.
With MiVoice for Lync, businesses will have a voice solution for the Microsoft Lync client. The new Mitel solution can be deployed in public, private, and hybrid cloud, as well as in an on-premise environment.
MiCollab 5.0
MiCollab is designed for real-time communication from any device and location. The solution has an interface that enables collaboration through voice, instant messaging, presence and audio, video, and web conferencing.
MiCollab 5.0 is integrated with Google Cloud Platform and Google Apps, including the calendar, contact management, email, instant messaging, and presence features. For instance, a user’s presence status automatically updates according to the Google Calendar scheduling.
SMBs and service providers that deliver cloud-based communication services can now get MiCollab packaged with voice as a unified virtual appliance.
Mitel also offers free client application that comes with click-to-call functionality, contact management, and corporate directory access. (KOM) Link. Link.
