Logitech announces the release of H820e, a new wireless headset for unified communications (UC) platforms and PC softphones. The wireless headset is optimized for Microsoft Lync and is compatible with all major softphone and UC applications, including Cisco platforms.

Logitech touts that its new product features acoustic echo cancellation, digital signal processing, enterprise-grade audio, and a noise-cancelling microphone. Logitech’s H820e comes with a 10-hour wideband talk time and an in-call LED indicator, which prevents interruptions during ongoing calls. The LED indicator light is found at the rear of the microphone boom.

Both sides of the headset band have on-ear buttons for volume control. A feature called auto-pair by docking helps the headset connect easily through its H820e charger base. And a wide band/narrow band switch offers control to the user who wants to set the balance between audio density and audio quality.

Built on the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard, Logitech’s H820e has a range of up to 300 feet. Logitech claims that the wireless headset can withstand high-density deployment, as in the case of a crowded office environment. The company touts that the H820e’s high-density deployment exceeds the capacity of most Bluetooth-enabled devices while it does away with the Wi-Fi interference caused by Bluetooth.

“We’re looking to change the attitude that wireless headsets in the enterprise are an afterthought or a perk,” said Eric Kintz, senior vice president and general manager for Logitech for Business, in a prepared statement. “Premium audio quality is essential in today’s anywhere workplace, where employees are connecting with each other in open spaces, from the road and from home, and people can do more when they aren’t tethered to their desks. Wireless headsets are rapidly becoming the ‘new normal’ for maximizing audio and video collaboration.”

H820e is marketed through Logitech’s channel partners. Two headset models are available: mono for one ear, dual for both ears. Logitech wireless headset H820e is priced at $179.99 (mono) and $199.99 (dual), while the corded USB headset H650e sells for $79.99 (mono) and $89.99 (stereo). The corded USB headset works with Linux, Macs, and Windows PCs. (KOM) Link. Link.
