Computer giant Lenovo just revealed a collection of the latest touch-friendly devices including Ultrabooks and tablets at the 2013 CES in Las Vegas. One of the highlights was the ThinkPad Helix tablet. The 11.6-inch touchscreen tablet has a 400-nit screen with up to a Core i7 processor and a 10-hour battery life. What’s more, the notebook has a "rip and flip" 1920 x 1080 display that can be easily detached for use as a tablet, or flipped 180 degrees to rest atop the keyboard. According to Lenovo, these features, as well as the optional LTE connectivity, make the Ultrabook a great tool for enterprise.

“Our unmatched family of convertibles gives consumers, students, business professionals, and everyone in between the opportunity to choose the convertible that’s right for them,” said Peter Hortensius, president, Product Group, and senior vice president, Lenovo. “The ThinkPad Helix gives business professionals two devices in one incredible form factor. It is a high performance, thin and light Ultrabook with a detachable Windows 8 tablet.”

Lenovo unveiled several other touchscreen devices as well as the Helix. The 11.6-inch IdeaPad Yoga 11S also made its debut. This is a hybrid Windows 8 tablet with a more compact design than the earlier Yoga 11. The more recent model has an Intel Core i3 CPU. The standard design comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD, though other configurations are available. One of the unique capabilities of the Yoga 11S is its motion control, which allow users to advance presentation slides with a mere wave of the hand.

If you’re looking to purchase the IdeaPad Yoga 11S or the ThinkPad Helix, you’ll have to wait until February. Expect to pay $799 and $1,499 respectively.

Lenovo demonstrated a number of other new notebooks and desktops at the Las Vegas CES, but the real attention-grabber was the unique IdeaCentre Horizon tabletop PC. This

27-inch touchscreen table can be used in a horizontal position or as a conventional desktop. The device weighs 17 pounds and automatically switches from the Windows 8 interface to the Aura interface as it is placed in a horizontal position. The IdeaCentre runs on a Core i7 with Windows 8 and is even equipped with its own app store from Lenovo, which currently provides more than 5,000 entertainment apps. It will be available to enterprise and consumers in early summer and will retail for around $1,699. (CU) Link
