A new addition has been made available via the Cloud Client Computing portfolio, Dell Wyse ThinOS 8 firmware and the Dell Wyse D10D thin client, according to Round Rock, Texas-based Dell.

Dell provides secure, manageable, and high-performing end-to-end desktop virtualization solutions for organizations that make use of Citrix, Microsoft, VMware and Dell software. The new addition is based on Dell Wyse’s heritage as a leading provider of thin clients and popular purpose-built thin client operating system.

The vice president of Product Marketing and End-User Computing at VMware, Erik Frieberg, said: “Dell Wyse has long been a key provider of thin clients that our virtual desktop customers can pair with VMware Horizon View. The new D10D combined with ThinOS 8 and VMware Horizon View offers excellent performance, security, and flexibility for our joint customers.”

The Dell Wyse designed ThinOS 8 firmware and D10D thin client are able to respond out of the box to the rising number of enterprise security threats. ThinOS-based devices are used frequently and millions of people benefit from its zero attack surface; this means that IT managers have no need to worry about vulnerabilities that plague other client operating systems. The virus-immune ThinOS 8 eliminates the need for security patches or expensive local software which safeguard against security threats.

The most recent addition was made last week, and is accessible on various Dell Wyse thin client models, including V10LE, C10LE, T10, and R10L from mid June to those on current maintenance subscriptions, for $399 ECP. It will be made standard on the Dell Wyse D10D, which is as powerful a solution as is it cost-effective. (CY) Link. Link
