Global VoIP Services Revenue Up 3% in First Half of 2013—Infonetics Says by UCStrategies Staff

Global revenue for residential and business VoIP services has increased three percent to $33 billion during the first half of the year, according to a new report from Infonetics Research.

Infonetics’ recent VoIP and UC Services and Subscribers report also revealed that from January 1 to June 30, 2013, hosted PBX/UC showed the highest level of growth compared to other VoIP services. This follows as a result of businesses, especially large enterprises, resorting to hosted services as alternatives to on-premises solutions.

From 2012 to 2017, the revenue for worldwide business VoIP services has been projected by Infonetics to grow at seven percent CAGR (compound annual growth rate), while a three percent CAGR for the revenue of residential/SOHO (small office and home office) VoIP services has been predicted.

“The VoIP services market is on track with our expectations for 2013,” said Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC and IMS at Infonetics Research. “Residential VoIP services make up the majority of revenue, but growth is being fueled by business services as SIP trunking and cloud unified communications continue to expand and find broader adoption with enterprises of all sizes.”

Activity in North America drove most of the 23 percent increase in SIP trunking during the first half of the year over the second half of 2012, according to Infonetics. The Infonetics report also said that the number of residential VoIP subscribers in the first half of 2013 reached 203 million worldwide. (KOM) Link. Link.
