Portland, Oregon-based SpireTech is a 20-year old IT company which has unveiled a new “local” cloud storage service with technology from Palo Alto, California-based CTERA Networks.

Business clients of SpireTech will be able to replace or enhance traditional in-house file servers through a cloud-connected server appliance provided with the technology. Fast employee access is also enabled with the appliance, which acts as a file server; this also provides remote collaboration capabilities and access to files from outside the office through mapped drive letters and apps for iOS and Android devices. Windows, Mac and Linux workstations and servers can also be supported and backed-up with the CTERA appliance.

A custom URL is offered to each business and allows them to engage with their server at PDXcloud.com (like mybusiness.pdxcloud.com), and it is also possible for the cloud portal to be branded for client and employee use. (CY) Link
