Cisco announces that it is acquiring SolveDirect, a services management platform provider based in Vienna, Austria. The privately held technology firm offers cloud services management integration services and software. Once the acquisition is completed, the Vienna-based company will be placed under the Cisco Services Platforms Group.

The decision to acquire SolveDirect is in line with Cisco’s acquisitions and investment strategy. SolveDirect brings in to Cisco and Cisco partners a single collaboration point that allows for scalable management of service delivery without the need to contend with the types of platforms and processes inherent in every service delivery infrastructure. SolveDirect’s SolveGrid platform is touted to make efficient and scalable the largely manual and nonscalable process of service monitoring and collaboration.

Cisco has worked with SolveDirect before. Through 3TS Cisco Growth, Cisco has invested in SolveDirect. It is also a major customer of SolveDirect.

“SolveDirect’s cloud-based solutions offer enterprises and service providers a flexible way to integrate with service partners, and automate sharing of processes, data, and workflows in real-time by eliminating manual practices and bottlenecks, driving significant operational efficiencies,” wrote Hilton Romanski, head of Corporate Business Development at Cisco, in a corporate blog post that announces the deal between the two companies. “SolveDirect’s capabilities will enable Cisco to extend our portfolio of smart and connected IT services to our global ecosystem of customers, partners and resellers.”

Channelnomics’ Larry Walsh looks at the channel implications of the Cisco-SolveDirect deal. He says that SolveDirect can turn out to be an important “service-enabling tool.” Platforms like SolveDirect’s ServiceGrid enable solution providers to “manage cloud performance delivered by third-parties on behalf of their customers.” (KOM) Link.
