Broadvoice Updates iOS App with Native Apple Integration by UCStrategies

Broadvoice has added new features to its mobile application for Apple iOS, giving it a look and feel more akin to those of native cellular calls. With this new enhancement, the mobile app now supports Apple’s CallKit on iOS 10, so as to provide users with increased usability and more convenience when making and taking mobile calls.

Broadvoice is a provider of cloud phone services, contact center solutions, collaboration, and conferencing, using cloud communications technology to provide quality calls at reduced costs. It currently offers a portfolio of IP-based voice and data offerings on its enterprise-class, geo-redundant IP telephony platform, including a full UC suite and cloud PBX services.

The mobile apps from Broadvoice provide total access to one’s office communications suite on the go. Following the new update, cloud PBX voicemails are now transcribed for reading convenience, users can make Broadvoice calls directly from their iPhone app’s contacts, favorites, and recent calls, and calls from the Broadvoice UC app are treated the same as any other call, down to the picture showing up with the caller ID on the lockscreen. Additionally, Broadvoice calls can now interact with Bluetooth accessories, as well as Apple CarPlay, allowing for hands-free conversations (particularly useful for users on the go).

“We’re finding that there are lots of variations on how CallKit can be implemented, resulting in a variety of user experiences – some better than others,” notes Michael Finneran, UC Expert for UCStrategies. “Broadvoice now joins Cisco Spark, Skype and Skype for Business, Broadsoft, and RingCentral in offering these capabilities.”

Finneran adds: “Brent Kelly of KelCor and I are doing a survey of all the vendors in order to measure their level of CallKid adoption. We’ll be asking Broadvoice to join the survey, the results of which we’ll present at Enterprise Connect.”
