Birch Communications Completes IP Network Expansion
Birch Communications Completes IP Network Expansion by UCStrategies Staff
Birch Communications announced on Monday that it had completed a project which has been worked on over a number of years, and was aimed at expanding the company's IP Network. The IP-based communications service provider stated that it has constructed 15 wireless towers and 43 office collocations, and has distributed them in the southern and central U.S., spanning over five states.
MetaSwitch and Zhone Technologies powers the Birch Communications network, and the latter's service was expanded in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Kansas and Texas. The broadening of the company's IP Network is, however, only one part of a much bigger plan to improve services.
The Executive Vice President and COO of Birch Communications, Chris Aversano, said: “Birch’s IP-Network now covers nine states with 290 COs, and we plan to grow to 13 states and 500 COs by the end of 2015. The completion of this latest phase of a larger upgrade and expansion project extends our IP-Network into two new states: North Carolina and South Carolina, and also adds wireless local loop capabilities in several new markets in Florida. We plan to continue to expand and improve our IP-Network at every opportunity, through both organic network build and acquisitions. Birch’s IP-network provides our customers with the very best communications and cloud services.” (CY) Link
