Windstream and Avaya have agreed to work together in a new effort to broaden the reach of the latter’s managed Unified Communications (UC) service offerings. These will include the Avaya Aura suite of communication solutions that will be made available in a fully managed, cloud-based solution.

This collaboration will mean that businesses will be able to access features and functionality from advanced UC, mobile and desktop collaboration, to messaging and other applications. These are available in a scalable, subscription-based service.

The vice president of business development for Windstream, Tim Whelehan, said: “With Windstream's vast experience as one of the nation's largest Avaya channel partners, coast-to-coast network footprint and a growing number of enterprise-class data centers, we are able to offer customers of all sizes UC capabilities, helping them become more productive and competitive—all without the upfront capital costs of a traditional UC solution.”

Customers will be offered access-wide, people-centric collaboration as a result of this move, as well as the support of fully unified communications and contact center solutions in a simple, flexible product offering. These will be ideal for small to mid-sized businesses. Furthermore, customers will be able to enable and use unified communications services as a result of this, through services like analog or VoIP lines unified messaging, desktop video, and a variety of other mobility solutions.
