Apple Exec Daumard Moves to Fiberlink to Help Develop Mobile Channel Program by UCStrategies Staff
Francois Daumard, who was previously a Microsoft executive, had been working for Apple for the last couple of years developing a mobility channel program. He has now moved to a new post at Fiberlink, a mobile device management vendor.
According to a spokesperson from Fiberlink, Daumard has recently begun working for the company as director of channel development; he will be overseeing a major expansion of Fiberlink’s channel program
Fiberlink was founded in 1991 in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. It is known for its MaaS360, a cloud-based mobile device management product which assists enterprises in keeping pace with IT demands of the bring-your-own-device trend.
After joining Apple in 2011, Daumart led recruitment and sales enablement of Microsoft partners with skills to handle corporate iPad and iPhone deployments through the Mobility Technical Competency program.
Daumart was a noteworthy hire for Apple; the company (and its partner channel) did not have in-house expertise to handle the integrations of iPhones and iPads in Windows-based networks at enterprise-scale. The connections to Microsoft’s channel, which Daumart brought with him, allowed Apple to enlist big enterprise deals.
A number of anonymous sources have revealed that the culture of secrecy at Apple may have made it difficult for Daumard to create interest in the channel program; this is something that he will not be restricted by at Fiberlink.
Apple will have to find a replacement for Daumard quickly in order to keep business on track. The company claims that almost all Fortune 500 companies use iPads and iPhones, and CEO Tim Cook recently noted that there is an opportunity for market expansion in the enterprise. Cook said: “We are at the very front end of that.” (CY) Link
